Shrimp and Sausage Cabbage Bowl with Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 12 oz smoked sausage sliced
  • ½ head green cabbage chopped
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 carrot sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • Cooked white rice for serving

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add sausage slices and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add oil/butter. Sauté onion, bell pepper, cabbage, and carrots until softened (about 10 minutes). Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
  • Season and simmer:
  • Season with paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Add chicken broth and simmer for 5–7 minutes until cabbage is tender.
  • Add shrimp and sausage:
  • Return sausage to the pan and add shrimp. Cook for another 3–5 minutes, until shrimp are pink and cooked through.

Serve:

  • Spoon the mixture over warm white rice
