7 Layer Dip
Very popular are gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups salsa
- 16 ounces refried beans canned
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1 cup guacamole prepared
- 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese
- ½ cup tomatoes
- 4 each green onions sliced
- Jalapenos chopped, quantity to, taste optional
- cilantro chopped to taste ,quantity to taste , optional
- black olives optional, I don't like so I do not add
Instructions
- Combine refried beans and milk (or you can use the liquid from the salsa if you prefer) until smooth. Spread the above on a platter or some dish with shallow lip, I usually make a couple of platters at the same time. Use one and when needs to freshen up, take the first one away, and replace it with the fresh one. The family will enjoy the left overs. (I do this first, place in freezer to chill and freeze if I have time. This makes spreading the other ingredients much easier)
- Place salsa in a sieve to drain any liquid (this keeps your dip from getting runny).
- Combine cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning with a mixer on medium. Spread over refried beans.
- Spoon guacamole over cream cheese and gently spread. Repeat with drained salsa.
- Top with cheese, olives/tomatoes and green onions, and any of the optional ingredients you like.
- Chill 1 hour before serving. Serve with tortilla chips or crackers.
Notes
7 layer dip will last 3-4 days in the fridge, however the longer it is stored the more the layers will bleed together and get watery. Drain it off. It’s appearance will not be as pretty as when fresh but still good to eat.
