Using a large pot, begin by browning the Italian sausage and the ground beef over medium-high heat. Break it apart as it cooks, letting it develop those crispy brown bits on the bottom of the pan.
Once it’s browned (usually takes around 10 minutes) spoon out some of the excess fat, leaving enough to cook your onions. Drop the diced onion into the sausage, let them soften and become translucent.
When the onion start looking glossy, add the garlic. A couple of minutes will bring out the aromatics.
Lower the heat, Add in the chicken broth.
Add the lasagna noodles. Simmer for a few minutes so the pasta picks up the flavor of the broth.
Serve HOT.
Notes
Note:
The Italian sausage is the key to this soup. Suggest using a flavor your family likes, or use a mixture of sweet and hot to add some zing but not too much so it over powers the other flavors.
